Cristallo's Heather Hartle demonstrates sandblasting with using stencils March 24, 2003 Guild Meeting |
A stencil is prepared from original artwork. The photosensitive material is exposed using UV light. |
After the stencil is exposed, it is washed to remove unexposed material. The stencil is then attached to the glass to be etched. |
Areas not covered by stencil material will be blasted away using abrasive media in the sand blast cabinet. |
The result is an intricate design carved into the flash glass being displayed. (stencil material has not yet been removed) |
