THE PENINSULA GLASS GUILD ART GLASS AUCTION
The Peninsula Glass Guild will have their first art glass auction on Saturday, June 13th, 1998 at the Charles H. Taylor Arts Center, 4205 Victoria Avenue in Hampton, Virginia.. There will be a preview from 4-6 p.m. with the auction starting at 6:00 p.m. PGG is fund raising to provide a stained glass window for the American Theatre in Phoebus and to help with Guild's purchase of artwork by internationally renowned glass artist, Cappy Thompson, donated to the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk.
The art glass in the auction will include stained glass, blown glass, torch worked glass, cast and fused glass, sandblasted and enameled glass, as well as, mixed media glass. Collectors and art lovers will have chance to bid on fabulous glass and support the PGG's fund raising for local donations. The auction services will be provided by Phoebus Auction Gallery.
Founded in 1986, the Peninsula Glass Guild is supported by the Hampton Arts Commission and is currently working on their eleventh donation of art glass to the Commonwealth of Virginia and their first donation to the Chrysler Museum. Past donations include: Newport News SPCA, the Virginia Living Museum, the Charles H. Taylor Arts Center, the Yorktown Victory Center, the VA Medical Center, The Virginia Air and Space Center in Hampton, Shelton on the Bay in Phoebus, the CANDII House in Norfolk, the Newport News Main Street Library, and the Virginia Holocaust Museum in Richmond.
