Paul Marioni

One of the founding members of the American Studio Glass Movement, Marioni is based in Seattle and creates sculptures and vessels that incorporate humor, images of taboo sexuality, genre figures, tribal masks, photographs, and visual puns. He works with blown glass, which might be painted with enamels, and cast glass, which he combines with other mediums, such as photography.  He has completed more than 85 public commissions, including cast glass walls, ceilings, and skylights.

Juror’s Statement
First, I look at all the work to see which pieces "spoke" to me. Second, I looked at pieces I thought were extremely well done whether they were to my "taste “or not, and third I looked at work that was well presented.
