Cristallo's Heather Hartle demonstrates sandblasting with using stencils

March 24, 2003 Guild Meeting

A stencil is prepared from original artwork. The photosensitive material is exposed using UV light.

After the stencil is exposed, it is washed to remove unexposed material. The stencil is then attached to the glass to be etched.

Areas not covered by stencil material will be blasted away using abrasive media in the sand blast cabinet.

The result is an intricate design carved into the flash glass being displayed. (stencil material has not yet been removed)
